The Lady Tigers took center stage in the biggest game of the season. A win at Legacy Arena would send them to the 7A State Championship. As the Women took the court, their black-on-black uniforms caught several glances. Their jerseys were now newly etched with the number 33. To most, the minute detail posed little significance. To those donning the black and blue, it represented all the season had been dedicated to. It signified a legacy meant to be honored.

The Tigers season has ended following the second round of post-season play. The Central Red Devils proved to be an unstoppable force Friday night when Auburn traveled to Garret-Harrison Stadium. We had several other great match-ups across the state. Region 2 and Region 3 continued to run the show with only one outlier remaining in 7A. Thompson and Vestavia Hills were tied at halftime, but the Warriors pulled out the win, advancing to the final 4. Enterprise and Mary-Montgomery were also even at the half, but the Vikings prevailed to earn their spot in the semi-finals. Hewitt-Trussville had no problem taking care of the Hoover Bucs as the Huskies took the victory 40-7. Round 3 approaches featuring a Region 3 match-up with Thompson and Hewitt-Trussville. The playoffs have arrived, and the Tigers have punched their ticket. Marking the final night of Friday night lights for the regular season, many teams were watching as their seasons came to a close. The Opelika Bulldogs ended their season with the decision to not ask Erik Speakman back following missing the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row. Percy Jullian ended their season on a high note with a 5-5 season and remains the most improved team of the year after winning just one game last season. With season-enders across the region, last Friday took Auburn to Panther Stadium. Auburn took on Smiths Station in a 7A region matchup. Taking the short trip east, the Tigers were well-represented and had quite a game before their playoff debut.

The Tigers had an incredible night at Duck Samford Stadium for their final home game of the regular season. The stands were filled with shades of pink for the annual "pink out" game supporting breast cancer awareness. During Pregame, accomplished senior football players, managers, athletic trainers, cheerleaders, and band members were honored for their years of dedication. Escorted by their parents, it was a proud night for students and families. Throughout the game, "The Duck" was absolutely electric. It is safe to say it was a big night for Auburn High, and the team gave the home crowd what they were looking for.

Bulldog Stadium had quite the range of emotions two Fridays ago when the Tigers took on the Bulldogs in their annual rivalry game. Auburn came into the much-anticipated match up 5-1. On the other end, Opelika was ready to shift to a winning record, coming in 3-3. The Bulldogs have had an intense season thus far, taking losses from the State Champion Thompson Warriors, the region-leading Central Red Devils, and a surprising upset from the Theodore Bobcats. Witnessing noticeable shake-ups in the 7A rankings and Auburn’s loss to the Enterprise Wildcats in week two, the Bulldogs had reasonable hope, in an upset for their team, looking to move forward. Watching the game going into halftime, through the 3rd quarter, and into part of the 4th, Bulldog fans began to believe their prayers had been answered. The Tigers had other plans though, and they seemed to have just enough gas in the tank to pull the game in their direction.
