1. Books are the source material for almost everything:
I believe this sentence to be true. If you’ve seen movies or played video games, the thing that you are watching or playing is most likely based of a book or some sort of written text/Source Material. This written text has also probably been adapted many times, but more on adaptations next week. A few large examples of source material is The Harry Potter Books or The Percy Jackson and the Olympians Books or The Hunger Games Series. These epic works of fiction have inspired many movies that have then led to Billion Dollar franchises and Spinoffs. Being able to enjoy these written works has led to countless hours of people’s enjoyment and entertainment. If we didn’t have people who were able to think outside of the box like most authors do, then we would not have the same society/pop culture that we do and the times leading up to now would have been very different. Just think of how our society would be different if we didn’t have books or movies or music. These things have all been written, that’s why words are so important. They change lives.
Next week on Beyond The page. We will be discussing adaptations and the way that some have succeeded and some have flopped. Stay tuned, and see you next week!
