One Month Until Macbeth! Exclusive Interview with Director Kim Mock

Auburn High School is putting on Shakespeare's Macbeth in exactly one month from today! The play with run from November 30th through December 2nd, and the cast is working hard to put on an amazing show. Ms. Mock and Ms. Hall have put together an amazing cast and crew, and are extremely excited to present the tragedy to AHS!

I talked with Ms. Mock, and asked her some questions about the upcoming production, when I asked her about whzt inspired her to choose Macbeth for the fall production, she respodned that, "It's a Shakespeare play that I've always wanted to direct and I believe we have the right combination of students with whom to collaborate and create a fantastic production!"

While it is exciting to put on such a historic play, concerns can arise about the complexity of the old English dialogue. But Ms. Mock is confident in her students that they will sucessfully carry the lines. "For the most part the cast is really strong, and I know with focused rehearsal time they will become even better at making Shakespeare's challenging language come to life on stage and easy for the non-Shakespeare lover to understand."

Macbeth is set in the medieval times, but Ms. Mock decided that "the design for this show is modern minimalism with a mix of contemporary and historical costuming elements". Surely this will be a fun new spin to the classic play that will intrigue and engage the audience.

Lastly, I wanted to know what Ms. Mock's favorite work of Shakespeare's was, and Ms. Mocks "LOVE['s] Shakespeare's comedy, Much Ado About Nothing! Hamlet is [her] favorite tragedy."

Ms. Mock and Ms. Hall are so excited for everyone to come see the play! Be sure to mark you calenders and buy tickets on My School Bucks as soon as they become available!
